Women United:

Bringing Women Together Through Philanthropy and Volunteerism

When women come together, anything is possible. Women United, a new initiative of United Way of Long Island, launched in October 2025 to streamline the philanthropic process for women across Long Island. Many women feel the call to make a difference but, with busy lives, it’s not always easy to know where to start. That’s where Women United comes in.

Women United is a powerful philanthropic community of women that provides direct support to the causes most important to its members through one annual gift, streamlining the giving process while maximizing collective impact. The focus areas of Women United include girls in STEAM, safe shelter, workforce and leadership development, healthy women and girls, motherhood support, anti-bullying, domestic violence support and other causes impacting women, girls and children. Through these targeted investments, Women United works to create long-term, sustainable change for families and communities across Long Island. Members belong to a network of like-minded powerful women who gather for social and networking opportunities along with volunteer activities throughout the year.

Since their first event at Jones Beach Nature & Energy Center, memberships have skyrocketed to three times their original size. This rapid growth reflects the power of collective giving and the enthusiasm of women ready to make a difference. This endeavor is championed by co-chairs Lynda Hullstrung of Deloitte & Touche, Lynda Nicolino of FourLeaf Federal Credit Union, Rosalie Drago of Haugland Group, Magdalonie Paris-Campbell of Moxie Strategies and Jamie Titus of Premier Consulting Partners.

Women United proudly hosted its first volunteer event on December 9th, bringing together 50 women and several inspiring young ladies for an evening dedicated to service, learning, and collective impact. The event supported two nonprofit organizations closely aligned with Women United’s mission: Bethany House of Nassau County Corporation and The Retreat LI. Together, volunteers assembled 100 care kits for women living in shelters, providing essential items and comfort to individuals and families during the holiday season. The evening combined hands-on volunteerism with opportunities for education and inspiration, highlighting the critical needs facing women and families experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, and the power of community-driven solutions.

Women United is building a community to create lasting change for women, children, and families across Long Island. This journey has just begun and there is no better time to join. To learn more about Women United and how to get involved, visit: https://www.unitedwayli.org/WomenUnited
